Steel making(Tatara)

"Tatara" is a traditional steel making process in Japan. "Tatara" is a kind of directly refining steel making method.
Famous Japanese sword Katana was made with "Tama-hagane" which is obtained by this process.

Metal casting

The metal casting process by the "sand mold castings" is explained in here. The sand mold casting is an ordinary method for the metal castings.
The foundry (casting factory) is one of the oldest metal working industries known to man; the Egyptians made metal castings as early as 4000 B.C.

Hot working

"Hot working" is a kind of the forming process at high temperature above the re-crystalization temperature: e.g. about 650 deg C for the ordinary steel. The hot working is advantageous to forms many metals, because the hardening does not occure during the forming process.
